Assemblyman Raj Mukherji, a Democrat from Hudson County, was New Jersey’s most prolific lawmaker of 2016.
Mukherji was a prime sponsor of 23 bills that were signed into law in 2016. And his name is at or near the top of 28 of the 58 bills that are sitting on Gov. Chris Christie’s desk.
“I owe that to the hard working legislative staffers and to the speaker and my Senate running mate, Brian Stack, who have helped me shepherd some good ideas into law,” Mukherji, who introduced 317 bills last year, said in a phone interview.
