The Jersey Journal -- 6/2/2014 -- Three state assemblymen, including one from Jersey City, have introduced legislation that would create a database for firearms used in illegal activities that are recovered by law enforcement agencies.

The bill, sponsored by Assembly Democrats Raj Mukherji of Jersey City, and Gary S. Schaer, and Vincent Mazzeo, directs the state Attorney General's Office to create a central repository of information regarding all firearms that were seized, forfeited, found or otherwise attained by law enforcement and believed to have been used in a crime.

The aim of the bill is to identify where illegal firearms seized in New Jersey are coming from and halt the flow of those weapons.  READ MORE: http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2014/06/assemblymen_introduce_measure_to_log_origin_of_illegal_weapons.html
